Admission

Admission Policies

Students shall not be denied admission to the University by reason of race, age, sex, socio-economic status, religion, political affiliation, or ideological conviction provided he is physically and mentally fit.

Admission Requirements

Graduate Level

  1. Undergraduate Transcript of Records
  2. Prescribed weighted average by the college
  3. Passing rate in the admission test
  4. Copy of scholarship contract for scholars

Undergraduate Level

Entering freshmen desiring to enroll in any of the degree courses must qualify in the CSU Admission test administered in all the campuses.

Requirements:
  1. A passing rate in the CSU Admission Test
  2. Form 138 or HS card
  3. Certificate of Good Moral Character from head of school or guidance counselor
  4. Police clearance and Barangay clearance
  5. 5 copies I.D. picture
  6. Birth certificate (photocopy)

For Transfer Students

Students from other institutions of higher learning may be admitted to the University subject to the following rules on academic affairs:

  1. A transfer student shall take the College Admission Test (CAT) if classified first year in the first semester. However, if he has satisfied all the academic requirements for first year, he shall take the qualifying exam (QE).
  2. He must satisfy the weighted average prescribed by the college;
  3. Only comparable basic subjects shall be credited;
  4. He must finish 60% of the total units of his academic degree immediately preceding graduation;
  5. He must submit an honorable dismissal, police clearance, a certification of good moral character, and a referral letter from a previous professor.

For Students with Title and/or Degree

Academic degree from any institution of recognized standing may be enrolled as determined by the College Dean. However, before a student is allowed to major in any discipline, the College Dean/Department Chairman concerned may prescribe additional general education and/or preparatory courses for the mejor field.

For Foreign Students

Policies

  1. The CAGAYAN STATE UNIVERSITY welcomes foreign students principally because it is in the nature of a university to encourage an encounter between cultures and to broach understanding between peoples.
  2. The University shall not be discriminatory in any respect against foreign students but shall likewise conscientiously apply all laws of the Republic of the Philippines in their respect. No affirmative action shall likewise be made in favor of foreign students.
  3. The university shall deal with an treat foreign students on a basis of equality with Filipino students.
  4. Cagayan State University defines as a foreign students any applicants for a program or course offered by the university who is a national or domiciliary of, or a permanent immigrant to a jurisdiction other than the Republic of the Philippines.
  5. The university cannot welcome nor will it accept fugitives from justice in other jurisdiction, nor will it accept foreign students who enroll in the university for the principal purpose of avoiding a military draft in their respective jurisdiction.

Guidelines

  1. The applicant must present to the university the following documents upon application:
    • A certification from the Commission on Immigration and Deportation that the student-applicant is eligible to stay in the country for purpose of university study.
    • A consular or diplomatic certification from the student’s local consulate or embassy certifying that the students is not wanted in his or her country fro prosecution or trial in any criminal offense.
    • Original copies of academic credentials of the students.
  2. The applicants must exhibit proficiency in English through either of the following ways:
    • Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL)
    • A Standardized English proficiency examination that the university will devise.
    • A certificate of English proficiency issued by any university or college in any jurisdiction where English is the medium of instruction. If it is clear to the admitting dean from an interview with the students that the latter has proficiency in English, the students may be dispensed from compliance with this requirements.
  3. An student-applicant must bear with him or her a certificate from the school or institution of origin of the applicant that the latter would be eligible for university studies in his or her jurisdiction.
  4. The student-applicant must obtain an acceptable mark in the aptitude test to be administered by the Cagayan State University.
  5. The student-applicant must present acceptable evidence of the student’s financial ability to defray the costs of study and living in the Philippines.
  6. Foreigner wishing to enroll in licensure programs such as Education, Guidance and Counseling, Psychology, Medical Technology, Engineering, Medicine or Law must be apprised of the fact that while they may be admitted to the course of study, Philippine law forbids them from sitting for the licensure examinations in the Philippines and from receiving a license to practice their professions here.
