Aparri
History
The municipality of Aparri is located at the Northern Part of Cagayan along the coast where the Cagayan River and the Babuyan Channel meet. The Cagayan State University-Aparri Campus is situated at Barangay Maura, some two kilometers eastern part of the poblacion. The University, with five colleges is led by the Center of Excellence in Fisheries reinforced by the Colleges of Teacher Education, Information Technology, Industrial Technology and Arts and Sciences.
This campus has grown quite enormously because of the 25% reduction of tuition fees effective the school year 2007-2008.
The Cagayan State University at Aparri was formerly the Aparri School of Fisheries which was established on May 9, 1952 through Section 10 of Republic Act No. 685. It was converted to Aparri College of Fisheries by virtue of Republic Act No. 3755 in July 1971. With the expansion program of the Fisheries Education, Bachelor of Science in Fisheries Education, a four year course was approved in February 20, 1974 and duly implemented in the School Year 1974-1975. Immediately, the following School Year 1975-1976, the college offered Bachelor of Science in Fisheries and on March 21, 1978, the Aparri College of Fisheries was changed to Aparri Institute of Technology. The Aparri Institute of Technology was one among the seven recipients of Regional Institute of Fisheries Technology (RIFT).
On June 11, 1978, Presidential Decree No. 1436 provides the transfer of the college that merged, CVCAT, NLUSCA and other vocational Institutions that included Aparri Institute of Technology, into a Cagayan State University (CSU)
