Considering the need of Cagayan Valley for Agriculturists and Agriculture Teachers, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA) major in Agronomy and Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education were offered in 1978. Due to the growing needs of agriculturists, Crop Science and Animal Science were offered as additional major in Agriculture and Agricultural Education; then in 1997 Agroforestry was added as a major. At present, the college maintains three major areas Agroforestry, Animal Science and Crop Science with Dr. Glorificador Agbayani as the Dean.

College of Education

The College of Education has its origin from the College of Agriculture. It first started as Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Education (BSAEd). To be abreast with the thrust of the government, the College of Education was separated as a college. With Dr. Wilhelmina as the Chairman, the college offered Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSE) major in Social Science in 1989. Then in 1993, Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) major in Social Science and HELE was opened and in 1997, English and Filipino majors were offered.

At present, the college maintains two courses: Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Industry management (BSHIM). The other courses BS Math and BS Biology were transferred to CSU Tuguegarao due to low enrollment. At present Mr. Florante C, Ayuyang as the Dean heads the college.

College of Information Technology

The College of Information Technology traces its origin from the College of Arts and Sciences. Through the demands of technology, the CSU-G Administration through the assistance of the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) by donating computers to be used in the laboratory courses, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) was first offered during the school year 1998-1999 with Mr. Calixto Alicay as the Coordinator. Due to growing number of enrollees in this course, it was separated as a college in August 7, 2005 with Mrs. Laurine A. Balatico as the Coordinator and now the Dean. At present, the College of Information Technology offers a Ladderized Program and it is one of the biggest colleges in the campus.

College of Business Administration

The College of Business Administration was opened in 2005 as an answer to the pursuit of the university to expand the curricular offerings and to be competitive with the other universities in the city. Through the leadership of the College Dean, Mrs. Charisma V. Paraiso, the college offers Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) major in Management Accounting. The college is now on its fourth year of operation.

The campus has 2,000-hectare mountain reserved at Calayan, Gonzaga and 504-hectare mountain reserved at Cadugsangan, Sta Clara, Gonzaga.

The campus is manned with 46 competent faculty members and 27 cooperative personnel.

History of CSU at Gonzaga

Realizing the importance and dire need for the establishment of a secondary school in Gonzaga, which has beel a long quest by the townspeople, the Municipal Council headed by Federico Navarro, passwd a resolution in February 1947 for the establishment of the first secondaryschool in the municipality. Gonzaga Junior High School was opened in the School Year 1947-1948.

The school was originally situated in a 32.9-hectare compound; civic-spirited citizens of the town donated the lot. The year 1950 marked the first graduation exercises for its first batch of 24 graduates composed of nine males and fifteen females.

In 1953, the Name of the school was changed into Gonzaga High School. It continued offering the General Secondary School Curriculum until 1960.

Cognizant of the great need for agricultural education, Board Member Cayetano de la Cruz and Congressman Felipe Garduque worked for the conversion of the Gonzaga High School and this was realized through R.A. 2437 series 1960. In June 1960, the Secondary agriculture Curriculum for boys and the Secondary Agricultural Homemaking Curriculum for Girls were opened.

With this conversion and with the leadership of Mr. Ladislao Querubin, the school became more responsive to the needs for agricultural skills, knowledge and values of the primarily agriculture oriented communities surrounding the school.

In 1962, corollary to R.A. 2437, Congressman Tito M. Dupaya initiated the approval of R.A. 3845, which paved the way to the conversion of the Gonzaga National Rural High School maintaining the status until 1974.

In 1975, to help improve the agricultural perspective of the communities surrounding the school, the school offered the Two-Year Post Secondary Associate in Agricultural Technology (AAT) course and turned out its first batch of Agricultural Technologists, ten males and 8 females in 1977.

With the offering of the Post-Secondary Course, the administration, under the leadership of Vocational Administrator, Mr. Querubin Ladislao, worked for another change in the name of the school from Gonzaga National Vocational High School (GNAVS) to Gonzaga National Agricultural and Technological School (GNATS). This was approved as per endorsement from the office of the President of the Philippines on May 18, 1977.

On June 11, 1978, President Ferdinand E. Marcos signed Presidential Decree 1436 transferring the college level of the school to the Cagayan State University. Through the representation of Defense Minister Juan Ponce Enrile in his capacity as Assemblyman and Member of the Executive Committee, President Ferdinand E. Marcos signed Proclamation No. 2268 approving the grant of 2,894 hectares in Gonzaga for the Cagayan State University (CSU) which shall be used for Research and Production of agri-products, livestock and forestry and for academic activities. The Cagayan State University is defined as a public; non-sectarian, non-profit instruction in the arts, agriculture, natural sciences as well as in technological and professional fields. With this definition, the Mission of CSU is to provide advanced instruction in the Arts, Agriculture, Natural sciences as well as in Technological and Professional Fields. Mr. Ladislao C. Querubin was designated as the Officer In-Charge.

The school offered Four-Year Degree Programs in Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA) and Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education (BSAEd) with 3 BSA and 8 BASEd as the first batch of graduates in 1982.

In 1985, Gonzaga National and Technological School (GNATS) was integrated into the Cagayan State University and the Secondary School became the Laboratory High School of the College of Education.

After serving for a long period of time, Mr. Querubin retired in 1987 and was succeeded by Miss Maria L. Gamiao and retired as Campus Dean in December 1992.

In January 1993, Campus Dean Eugenio Tolentino of CSU Lallo was assigned as Campus Dean of CSU Gonzaga, managinng the two schools at the same time.

In August 1994, Dr. Pedro R. Tugade of CSU Piat was designated as Campus Dean of CSU Gonzaga; he continued the development of the campus until the reshuffling of campus deans in 2000.

In July 2000, Dr. Jose A. Cardenas Campus Dean of CSU Piat was assigned to lead the campus in the transformation of the campus as the Central Administration of Cagayan State University.

With the reorganization of the Cagayan State University wherein the Campus Dean was changed to Campus Executive Officer, Dr. Perfecto V. Vivit won in the Search for the Campus Executive Officer of CSU-Gonzaga. Dr. Vivit sat in his office on September 23, 2003.

As the new CEO of CSU Gonzaga, Dr. Vivit is steering the campus to be decentralized in fiscal matters and to intensify the Curricular Programs, Research & Extension Programs Income Generating Projects of the campus and to improve the physical plants of the campus.

CSU at Gonzaga continues to perform its four-fold functions of Instruction, Extension, Research, and Production.

Since its birth in 1947, the school is actively participating in nation building, a leader in countryside development.

Now CSU at Gonzaga is one of the seven campuses of the Cagayan State University sprawled in 30.8 hectares lying at the foot of Mt.
