DR. PABLO AFIDCHAO JR., a professor of the College of Medicine and Surgery (CMS), was awarded a plaque of recognition by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) for his bravery as volunteer doctor in medical missions it conducted in several rural areas of the province of Cagayan.
In a ceremony held in January, AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Victor Ibrado handed in the award to Dr. Afidchao in the presence of the officers and men of the 5th Infantry Division (5th ID) and 17th Infantry Brigade (17th IB) based in Alcala town.
High ranking officials of the AFP were also present during the ceremony held at the Northern Luzon Camp Cevilliano Aquino in Tarlac City.
In an interview, Dr. Afidchao, who teaches Anatomy and heads the CMS laboratory, thanked the AFP hierarchy for the recognition he had received along with other awardees cited in the same ceremony.
He said he never expected such an award as he was just doing his job as a doctor whose main aim is to save lives.
