DR.THERESA DIMALANTA, the BS Mathematics program coordinator of the Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (DNSM) of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), was honored as one of the most outstanding graduates of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
In a ceremony held last year at the Dusit Hotel in Makati City, the former assistant dean for academics, received a plaque from DOST officials who were then observing the National Science and Technology Week.
When reached for comment, Dr. Dimalanta said she had not expected the award as she thought that her being a DOST scholar would end when she finished in 2008 her Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of the Philippines (UP) with the dissertation, “Analysis of the Primary Drying Stage of a One-Dimensional Freeze-Drying Model with Moving Boundary.”
“It came to me as a surprise. I didn’t have any inkling DOST would still remember me,” said Dr. Dimalanta, a civil engineer by profession.
Said Dr. Dimlanta: “I am so happy that my effort is being recognized.”
DOST’s Philippine Council for Advanced Science and Technology Research and Development (PCASTRD) sponsored the graduate education of Dr. Dimalanta, who served as one of the trainers of the just concluded Continuing Professional Development Program (CPDP) for Math.
