CSU, DOST hosts ‘Building Science Nation Tour 2015’

To show how significant science and technology is in the society, the Cagayan State University (CSU) and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) partnered to bring together students, professionals and political leaders in one big event dubbed “Building Science Tour 2015” on March 24, 2015.

Organizers put up numerous events for the activity held at the Red Eagle Gymnasium packed by students, teachers and officials in yellow shirts from Carig and Andrews Campuses.

Among these included ‘Lakbay Aral,’ Science Film Viewing, a summit honoring ambassadors and scholars of DOST, a concert and a press conference with DOST Sec. Mario G. Montejo, who, during the opening program, was accompanied by Justice Sec. Leila De Lima and Presidential Legislative Liaison Sec. Manuel Mamba.

With the theme, "Inspire, Engage and Ecourage," the activity, which also included Tuguegarao City Mayor Engelbert Caronan, DOST Regional Director Urduja Tejada and CSU President Romeo R. Quilang, is second of two biggest DOST events held in Carig and in the administration of President Quilang, the first being the 2013 Philippine Science Centrum’s Travelling Exhibits on Energy dubbed "Science Sparks."

The cabinet members, local officials and other guests also visited the CSU-DOST Food Innovation Center, a regional hub for innovations and support services for the development of processed foods in Region 2.

The guests march towards the Red Eagle Gymanasium as they are welcomed by a Street Dance performed by the Basic PE students during the Building Science Nation Tour of DOST.
