Total enrollment at Cagayan State University rose again this year and now stands at 40,324, based on the data recorded by the University’s Management Information System Office as of July 22, 2015.
There is an increase universitywide of 1,898 students or 4.94 percent, over last year’s first semester digit, 38,426. The increase, according to Prof. Samuel Gaspar, university registrar, is due to CSU’s open admission and selective retention policy and to the University’s good reputation as demonstrated by its high performance in board examinations and quality assurance activities.
Carig Campus topped the enrollment at 11,685, yielding an increase of 652 students over last year’s enrollment count.
On second place is Andrews Campus whose enrollment (10,264) is down by 5.26 percent decrease when compared to its 2014-2015 record.
Aparri stayed on third spot like last year. This time, however, it showed a new record: 5,294 students.
Following Aparri is Sanchez Mira Campus with 4,940, seeing an increase of 458 students to 4,482.
Piat Campus saw an increase of 442 students to 2,609; Gonzaga also observed an increase of 252 students to 1,990; and enrollment at Lal-lo increased by 73 students to 1,802.
Lasam remained at the bottom, but continued an upward trend from last year’s 865 to this year’s enrollment total: 973.
This year’s enrollment report showed that of the 40,324 students enrolled in the 140 curricular programs of the University, 23,621 are females and 16,703 are males.
Most of the total number of female population comes from Andrews Campus, which registered a total of 7,603 female students.
