CSU hosts caravan on disaster risk reduction and management

Cagayan State University is in partnership with the Cagayan Valley Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CVRDRRMC) and the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) for the National Disaster Consciousness Month celebration and observance.

One of the highlights of the month long celebration is the “Disaster Risk Reduction Management Caravan” sponsored by CVRDRRMC and hosted by CSU Andrews Campus on July 30, 2015 held at the university gymnasium. The 1-day caravan aims to enhance the awareness of students, professors and staff of the university in disaster risk reduction and management.

n Among the topics discussed during the caravan were the following: Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management by Mr. Dan Michael Villamil (OCD); Hydrometeorological Hazards by Mr. Tony Pagalilauan of PAGASA; Geological Hazards by Mr. Elger Cordova (OCD); Fire Safety by SFO2 Mona Lisa A. De Guzman and FO1 Charmaine P. Lumiuan (BFP); Public Health by Mr. Julius Cesar T. Estrada (DOH); and Crime Prevention in Schools by PSINP Alexander A. Tamang, PO1 Pinky B. Acain, PO1 Gerlie B. Balisi and PO3 Jessica M. Pasicolan (PNP). An open forum among the participants was also conducted immediately after the talk series. Participants included freshmen students, faculty, administrative staff and personnel of CSU Andrews.

This year’s theme is "Pamilya at Pamayanang Handa, Katuwang sa Pag-unlad ng Bansa".
