CSU snatches Regional SCUAA crown again

The Cagayan State University (CSU) snatched once again the championship crown of the 2015 Regional State Colleges and Universities Association (SCUAA) Meet held on Dec. 9-11 at Quirino State University Diffun Campus, Diffun, Quirino.

The University outshone the four other state universities in Region 2: Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU), Isabela State University (ISU), Quirino State University (QSU) and Batanes State College (BSC).

After three days of playing 19 contested sports events, CSU triumphed with 139 gold medals, beating ISU with 62, NVSU with 39, QSU, 13 and BSC, 1.

Below is the summary of gold medals raked by CSU in the different sports events.

  • Baseball – 9
  • Sepak Takraw – 6
  • Athletics Men – 15
  • Athletics Women - 9
  • Swimming Men/Women – 15
  • Table Tennis Men – 4
  • Table Tennis Women – 4
  • Lawn Tennis Men – 4
  • Lawn Tennis Women – 4
  • Badminton men – 4
  • Badminton Women – 4
  • Chess Men – 4
  • Taekwondo Men – 2
  • Taekwondo Women – 5
  • Dancesports Latin – 2
  • Archery Men – 4
  • Karatedo Men/Women – 4
  • Arnis Men/Women – 10
  • Beach Volleyball Men – 2
  • Beach Volleyball Women – 2

Aside from dominating the sports events, CSU also posted its best finish in the Mr. and Ms. Regional SCUAA 2015.

University’s Benjamin Saguid Jr. and Nichole Cabaddu placed second runner-up and third runner-up in the pageant.
