The Philippine Society of Medical Technology Students (PHISMETS) Cagayan State University (CSU) Chapter hosted the first-ever PHISMETS Regional Convention held at the CSU Athena Gymnasium on Dec.10-11, 2015.
The two-day activity themed, “Surging towards One Goal, Converging to Achieve One Dream,” was attended by 827 students from nine schools in the region offering Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology (BSMT). These include Cagayan State University Andrews (CSU), Medical Colleges of Northern Philippines (MCNP), University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT), Saint Paul University Philippines (SPUP), International School of Asia and the Pacific-Kalinga campus, University of La Sallette, Saint Mary’s University- Bayombong, University of Perpetual Help System and PLT College.
Organizers invited Rev. Fr. Ranhillio C. Aquino, lawyer Romael Meng G. Binarao, and Felicisimo Martinez Jr. as speakers.
Assigned during the first day, Aquino talked on Bioethics, Binarao on Media Technology Laws and Martinez on Transfusion Guidelines and Protocols, Transfusions Reactions: Recognition Management and Reservation.
The following day, participants listened to the lecture of Ms. Babyline Bautista on Stress Management.
In an interview, College of Allied Health Sciences Dean Julius Capili underscored on the primary objective of the event, which had a socio-cultural presentation night of the first day.
He said this event was aimed to foster camaraderie among schools in the region offering BSMT.
