R&D on High-End Technologies and Management System for Sustained Growth
For CY 2008 Ist & 2nd QTRs, 2 of R&D Office research outputs were published in the Bannawag Magazine and the Manila Bulletin- Agriculture, while one research output is to be published in the national journal Marine Digest.
Six (6) papers were presented in a national forum/conference from January-June 2008. On the local forums, the usual trend of presentation is on the 3rd QTR of the year. For the institution’s invention patented, the technology on Shrimp Cake is in its final phase and is expected to be ready on the 3rd QTR of this year.
Five (5) implemented researches for CY 2008 were funded by other agencies to support their completion. These supporting agencies include DOST- (Coconut Project at CSU Sanchez Mira), Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP)- CSU-DBP Agro-forestry Project at CSU-Lallo, the Commission on Higher Education(CHED)- CSU Graduate Tracer Study based at CSU Tuguegarao, just completed this June 2008, and the Crabling Hatchery in CSU Aparri.; and Rice Production Project funded by PHILRICE. A project proposal on Vegetables is in the works which shall to be funded by PCARRD this last QTR of this year.
A total of 32 research projects were internally funded by the University. These researches are under the different priority areas of the university and in consonance with the priority areas of the government and non-government agencies. One of these researches has been completed while the others are either on-going or newly conducted.
The Research Office conducted the search for the CSU Best Undergraduate Theses. A total of 33 undergraduate these were presented / evaluated last March 2008. These were classified into 3 sectors/groups i.e. Agriculture/Biological/Fisheries; Physical sciences; and Social Sciences. All winning papers were published in the University Research Journal.
A total of 19 conferences/workshops and meetings were attended by the research staff and faculty for the 1st and 2nd QTRs of CY 2008. Eight of these were conducted by the R&D Office.
CY 2008 3rd and 4th QTRs, the R&D Office were able to present 1 paper for International forum 3 papers for national level, 1 paper presented in regional level and 19 papers were presented locally or during the CSU In-House Review and Evaluation of Completed and on-going Projects.
For the Institution’ invention patented, the technology on Shrimp Cake is finally patented 3rd Quarter of 2008.
For the 3rd and 4th QTRs of CY 2008, the R&D Office continued to implement and monitor Special projects funded by DOST (Coconut Project at CSU Sanchez Mira), Development Bank of the Philippines (CSU-DBP Agro-Forestry Project at CSU Lal-lo), Commission on Higher Education(CHED) (Crabling Hatchery in CSU Aparri), PHILRICE(Rice Production Project at CSU-Gonzaga), the Organic vegetable Project by PCARRD which is already approved for implementation this 2009 and the a social research project entitled “Policy Research on the State and Future Supply and Demand for Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Resources (AFNR) Graduates in the Philippines ‘ which is also be implemented this 2009.
A total of 32 research projects internally funded by the University were continually monitored by the R&D Office for 3rd and 4th QTRs CY 2008.
A total of 32 conferences/workshops and meeting were attended by the research staff and faculty for the 3rd and 4th QTRs. Seven (7) of thees were conducted by the R&D Office.
A research paper on “The Impact of Kusroshio Intrusion Along Luzon Strait on Selected Marine Organisms in Palaui Island, Sta. Ana, Cagayan “ won first place for Best Paper for Development during the 13th Annual R&D Commodity Review and Planning Workshop for Fisheries cum Techno-Roadshow on November 12-14, 2008 at Panagasinan State University, Lingayen, Pangasinan.
