#CSUINFOCUS || REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL DC XII BACKS CSU C-TRIKE AS SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORT OPTION FOR SOCCSKSARGEN
Cagayan State University’s Converted Electric Tricycle (C-Trike) technology and battery-swapping system have gained the support of the Regional Development Council (RDC) XII for road testing in the SOCCSKSARGEN Region.
Through RDC XII Resolution No. 226, Series of 2026, the Council supported and adopted the deployment of the CSU-developed technology for road testing as part of efforts to generate evidence on the viability of electric transportation solutions.
The resolution, approved during the 94th Regular Meeting of RDC XII on August 27, 2026, in Kidapawan City, Cotabato, recognizes the C-Trike’s potential contribution to sustainable transportation, energy efficiency, and inclusive economic growth.
The proposed road testing will generate empirical evidence and operational insights that can assist policymakers, local governments, transport operators, and other stakeholders in assessing the feasibility, scalability, and long-term sustainability of electric tricycle deployment and battery-swapping infrastructure in the region.
The initiative also opens a pathway for Cagayan State University’s research and development outputs to be examined in an operational setting beyond the University, strengthening opportunities for evidence-based assessment and potential technology adoption.
