SDG-9SDG-17
The current workshop serves as a continuation of the first phase conducted on September 15–16, 2025 via Zoom, where Cagayan State University began exploring the inte...gration of futures thinking and foresight into its institutional development and research agenda.
Building on the initial phase, the workshop seeks to further mainstream foresight and futures thinking across Cagayan State University’s institutional strategies, research, extension, and academic programs.
Through the ACACIA-ASCENT Framework and Futures Research Agenda, CSU seeks to strengthen a culture of anticipation, innovation, and long-term thinking—helping the University become more proactive in addressing emerging challenges and opportunities.
In his welcome message, Officer-In-Charge University President Dr. Arthur G. Ibañez highlighted one of Cagayan State University’s key initiatives in institutionalizing Futures Thinking: the establishment of the SDG Center and Futures Thinking.
Dr. Ibañez said the Center serves as a way of institutionalizing and officially organizing the concepts of Futures Thinking within the Cagayan State University system, forming part of the University’s initial steps toward fully developing its research and development agenda across its areas of coverage and changing the mindset of its present and future employees.
Serving as resource persons from PhilFutures are Dr. Michville A. Rivera, Mr. Emmanuel De Guia, Dr. Ruperto S. Sangalang, Prof. Ramces M. Dili, and Mr. Lui Joshua N. Cuadra.
Cagayan State University has been part of the Futures Thinking funding initiative since 2022–2024, and in 2026, the University is once again among the 25 State Colleges and Universities funded for Futures Thinking.
Together with PhilFutures, Cagayan State University continues to explore how Futures Thinking can help shape a more sustainable, innovative, resilient, and future-ready University.
