CHED CHAIRPERSON AGRUPIS VISITS CSU, PLEDGES SUPPORT AND NEW INITIATIVES

By Office of the University President | August 8, 2025 |

Returning to her home province of Cagayan, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairperson and Cagayan State University (CSU) Board of Regents Chair Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis visited the university today, August 8, bringing with her a slate of new initiatives to strengthen higher education in the region.

Greeted with smiles and warm gestures, Dr. Agrupis arrived at Tuguegarao City Airport this morning to a reception led by OIC University President Dr. Arthur G. Ibañez, former University President Dr. Urdujah G. Alvardo, CHED Regional Office II Regional Director Dr. Julieta M. Paras, university officials, campus executive officers, and other personnel and staff.

Set to visit various CSU campuses until Sunday, the commission’s head made her first campus stop at CSU Carig, where she was welcomed by lively and colorful student performances.

As she traversed the campus grounds on an e-tranvia, she was trailed by a parade of e-buggies, e-trikes, and c-trikes—research outputs of the campus’ Electromobility Research and Development Center (EMRDC), funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and recognized as the first and only e-mobility center in the Philippines.

During the discussions with campus and university officials at the CSU Carig Administration Conference Hall, Dr. Agrupis pledged her support to advancing the university’s vision for quality education backed by initiatives that create lasting impact.

After departing the CHED Regional Office for her brief visit, the group proceeded to CSU Andrews, where she was yet again warmly welcomed by students, faculty members, and university employees, for which she made an emotional remark.

During her much-anticipated arrival at the central administration, Dr. Agrupis lauded the university for being a top higher education institution in instruction, research, and community service, urging University Officials to join her in extolling excellent Cagayano leadership nationally.

CSU is the first state university among the country’s 113 State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) that she has visited in person since her appointment as CHED Chairperson.
