In the evening of the 1st day of the International Conference on SMART Agriculture
(ICSA), a social gathering for all the participants, on-site and online, was hosted by the
university to share the culture of Filipinos.
In the welcome message delivered by Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mariden V. Cauilan, she
said that the night’s cultural presentation is meant to be a trip through the culture of the
Philippines from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
During the event, a toast of gratitude and in honor of partnership success was raised for the
delegates. The toast was led by the Atty. Carmello O. Villacete, CSU Alumni Regent. As a farmer
himself, he also shared his first-hand experiences in agriculture.
To express gratitude to the Day 1 Plenary Speakers, Plaques of Appreciation was awarded to the
presenters by President Urdujah G. Alvarado, Vice President for Administration Affairs Giged T.
Battung, and Vice President for Partnership and Resource Mobilization Theresa B. Dimalanta.
The night also featured the Ceremonial Memorandum of Agreement Signing between CSU through President
Alvarado and Chung Hsing University in Taiwan through Dr. Hsin-i Chiang, marking the partnership
between the two higher education institutions.
As a finale, the audience was treated to a feast of talents through a cultural show which showcased
the outstanding voices and dancing skills of the Athena Performing Arts Bureau produced by Prof.
Kristel Joy Tabao and Mr. Arvin Iquin.
