In a significant stride towards embracing eco-friendly practices and strengthening sustainable tourism, the Cagayan State University (CSU) Gonzaga Campus unveiled the Bamboo Village and Bamboo Café yesterday, December 4, 2023.
Inspired by Asian Institute Management concepts on sustainable tourism, this initiative hopes to transform the campus into a noteworthy eco-tourism site in Cagayan Valley.
Commending the relentless efforts of CSU Gonzaga, University President Dr. Urdujah G. Alvarado lauded Campus Executive Officer Froilan Pacris Jr. and his team for their dedication to this essential undertaking. “We have them to thank for their passion and tireless dedication in pursuing this very important undertaking for CSU at Gonzaga Harnessing the beauty and strength of bamboo, we were able to groom our CSU-Gonzaga campus as an eco-tourism site in the province of Cagayan that welcomes everyone”, Dr. Alvarado said.
Joined by Campus Executive Officers from CSU's satellite campuses, Gonzaga Mayor Marilyn Pentecostes and representatives from neighboring municipalities who all expressed their support to the project, Dr. Alvarado and CEO Pacris inaugurated the Bamboo Village and Bamboo Café as important components of the Bamboo Sanctuary at CSU Gonzaga.
Through the Bamboo Sanctuary, the campus now offers diverse tour packages, amenities, and services, including events and catering, accommodation, tropical fruit picking, wellness massage and more.
Underscoring its commitment to fostering a more productive and sustainable bamboo industry and advocacy in the region, CSU is dedicated to innovative solutions at par with the needs of the community.
