December 6, 2023 โ As part of the 18-day campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) of the Regional Gender and Development Council 02 (RGADC2), the Cagayan State University (CSU) spearheaded the launching of the Men Opposed to Violence Against Women Everywhere (MOVE) at CSU Andrews Campus.
In her message, University President, Dr. Urdujah G. Alvarado, urged participants to actively engage in the fight against VAW, emphasizing the need to neither commit nor condone acts of violence against women. The guest speaker, PMAJ Roel Arzadon from the Philippine National Police โ Regional Community Affairs and Development Division (RCADD) PRO2, provided a comprehensive overview of gender-based violence statistics and shed light on MOVE's integration within PNP Region 02, highlighting regional initiatives and best practices.
Representatives from diverse sectors, including PNP, NVSU, OCD, PIA, NEDA, DILG, DBM, PSWD, DSWD, JCI, CHR, DPWH, and LGU Cauayan, attended the launch, pledging their support for MOVE initiatives in the region. This collaborative effort marked a significant step in fostering awareness about men's crucial role in ending violence against women.
MOVE, organized and initiated by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), unites men from government, private sectors, academia, and non-governmental organizations, reflecting a collective commitment to building a society free from violence against women.
