CSU-OIC OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT AND OTHER OFFICIALS MEET WITH USAID REPRESENTATIVES FOR FUTURE PARTNERSHIP PROJECTS

Dr. Arthur G. Ibañez, OIC of the Office of the President, Vice Presidents, CEOs and other University Officials met with United States Agency for International Development (USAID) representatives, Mr. Todd Johnson and Ms. Jo Ann Dulce from the Environment Office of the USAID-Philippines, in a meeting held today, February 13, 2024 at Cagayan State University, Andrews Campus Conference Hall.

In his opening message, Dr. Ibañez expressed gratitude to USAID for the opportunity to meet with them and discuss projects for potential collaborations. He also included that he is hopeful that the meeting will lead to another relationship between CSU and USAID.

Mr. Todd Johnson, USAID Natural Resource Management Specialist, briefly explained the coverage of their division, stating that they cover issues in natural resources and management in Asia-Pacific, specifically, climate change. “Nandito na ang climate change, nararanasan na,”he added. Thus, USAID is looking for an intersection of energy strategy, and water strategy.

Ms. Jo Anne Dulce, USAID Project Management Specialist, presented initiatives in other parts of the country such as Safe Water Project in Palawan, Negros Occidental and Saranggani. In her presentation, their projects have successfully managed to give 1.22 Million Filipinos access to clean drinking water, access adequate sanitation services and more than 5.6 Billion in peso mobilized for improved water security, sanitation and hygiene. Moreover, they expounded that their roles includes technical assistance to projects and help find agencies that will support these projects.

As the meeting concluded, Dr. Ibañez seeks for avenues in the University that is in line with the goals and mission of USAID, and informed the representatives that CSU will submit proposals as soon as possible after gathering available projects that are relative and suitable for USAID’s campaign.
