Cagayan State University (CSU) recently played host to officials from Dewey International Taiwan (DIT) as they explored potential educational collaborations with the university. The meeting, held at the CSU conference room on March 27, 2024, was initiated by Dr. Hazel Habito-Javier, the Tourism Attache of the Philippines in Taipei.
The discussions between CSU and DIT primarily focused on the possibility of future collaborations in the areas of English as a Second Language (ESL), student immersion, and exchange programs. Dr. Tim Liao, President of DIT, and Ms. Zonya Zhang, Manager at DIT, presented their programs to the CSU Execom and Mancom members highlighting potential fields of collaboration between the two institutions.
During the meeting, Dr. Mariden V. Cauilan, Vice President for Academic Affairs at CSU, expressed interest in the idea of student and instructor exchanges between CSU and DIT, particularly for on-the-job training opportunities.
Dr. Hazel inquired about CSU’s readiness for ESL immersion programs lasting 2-4 weeks, as DIT was seeking educational institutions for collaboration in this area. OIC President Dr. Arthur assured Dr. Hazel and DIT that CSU is prepared and eager to engage in collaborative projects. He further emphasized CSU’s interest in sending exchange students abroad for their personal and academic growth.
The meeting concluded with a sense of optimism and enthusiasm for the potential collaborations between CSU and DIT. Both parties expressed a commitment to further discussions and negotiations to solidify the partnership and create valuable opportunities for students and faculty members from both institutions.
