BLENDS FIT FOR ROYALTY; CSU INTRODUCES TWO NEW COFFEE BLENDS DURING EXECOMMANCOMM

By Office of the University President | August 15, 2024 |

Following the successful introduction of the Oliviante robusta blend last July 2024, Cagayan State University launched two additional powerful coffee blends, King Arthur dark roast and Urdujah premium blend, during the Execom-Mancom held at CSU Lal-lo campus on Friday, August 9, 2024.

The coffee blends are results of the ripe coffee hub program under the development of the Valena heritage coffee blends project, as part of the 5 million institutionally funded Research, Development, and Extension project.

The blends concocted by the project leader Mr. Mark Gregory Asejo, with Ms. Althea Manuel and Mr. Ronald Espada as members, were made from coffee beans harvested from the Valena coffee plantation and processed through the campus’ coffee processing center. The project aims to bolster its coffee production and processing in response to their niche in coffee.

The blends’ labels; King Arthur dark roast, Urdujah premium blend, and Oliviante robusta blend is a resounding tribute to the university’s outstanding leaders, OIC – President, Dr. Arthur Ibañez and former President Dr. Urdujah Alvarado, and Lal-lo’s respected and supportive Executive, Mayor Florante Pascual and Mrs. Maria Olivia Pascual.

The coffee blends introduced are still currently under research for improvement and are intended to be commercialized and served at the coffee shop, which is now being erected under the RIPE Coffee Hub Program.
