September 15, 2024 – Cagayan State University welcomed a delegation of 12 faculty and student visitors from Universiti Teknologi Mara or UiTM Malaysia as part of the Youth Leadership Towards Sustainable Development Goals Exchange Program. Running from September 15 to 20, 2024, this initiative by former Vice President Giged Battung aims to foster cross-cultural understanding and collaboration among future leaders.
As part of the cultural exchange, participants engaged in a meaningful community outreach activity earlier today, visiting a local Muslim community where they distributed tokens and gifts to children. The delegation also took the opportunity to visit a nearby mosque.
In addition to the visitors from Malaysia, 10 student participants from CSU will be joining the group. This initiative not only promotes international friendships but also supports CSU’s strategic goals for student and faculty mobility.
During the welcome program, CSU and UiTM renewed their Memorandum of Understanding, reinforcing their commitment to ongoing collaboration in education and research.
President Arthur Ibanez emphasized the significance of the exchange program in achieving the university’s internationalization targets and commended Dr. Battung and Internationalization Director Kristine Joyce Lara. “We are happy to welcome our friends from UiTM and look forward to the experiences that this collaboration will bring to our student and faculty participants,” he said.
As the week progresses, participants will engage in various workshops, discussions and cultural activities at CSU Piat and Sanchez Mira Campuses, all aimed at enhancing their leadership skills and global awareness.
