CSU CARIG CAMPUS CELEBRATES 15TH FOUNDING ANNIVERSARY WITH NEW STUDENT ACTIVITY CENTER SET TO RISE

The Cagayan State University Carig Campus came alive with excitement as it marked its 15th Founding Anniversary on September 23, 2024.

The vibrant celebration was made even more special by the groundbreaking ceremony of the much-anticipated Student Activity Center, set to become a new hub for student life on campus.

The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including Congressman Joseph Lara, a member of the CSU Board of Regents, Dr. Zarah Lara, and key university officials such as Dr. Mariden Cauilan (Vice President for Academic Affairs), Dr. Teresa Dimalanta (Vice President for Finance), Dr. Recto Aguirre (University Alumni Director), Carig CEO Engr. Roger Rumpon, Piat CEO Dr. Hitler Dangatan, Aparri CEO Dr. Audy Quebral, Prof. Kristine Lara (Campus Coordinator for International Linkages), and other campus officials.

The Student Activity Center—an initiative proposed by former Student Regent John Michael Pattugalan, now serving as Carig Campus OSDW Director—will serve as a dynamic space for student organizations, events, and gatherings. It will provide students with a venue for meetings, workshops, and social activities, enriching their overall experience on campus. It will become a central spot for collaboration, creativity, and community building, strengthening the bonds within the campus.

Congressman Joseph Lara, a longtime supporter and benefactor of CSU, has generously provided funding for the project, amounting to ₱5,000,000.00. The construction is expected to be completed by March 2025.

Additionally, a tree planting event was organized to support the current administration's 45,000 Tree Project, led by OIC President Arthur G. Ibañez.

The five-day anniversary celebration is packed with activities, including intramurals, showcasing the talents and skills of both students and employees. From sports competitions to cultural presentations, the festivities are designed to promote camaraderie and the spirit of togetherness. The celebration will run from September 23 to 27, 2024.
