Cagayan State University (CSU), through its College of Veterinary Medicine, convened experts, researchers, practitioners, and students for an international webinar on Sustainable Animal Management: Health, Welfare, and Environmental Impact, held today, November 29, 2024.
In collaboration with the National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) in Taiwan and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) in Malaysia, the event aimed to promote effective strategies for improving animal welfare, minimizing environmental impacts, and enhancing public health through the One Health approach.
CSU OIC President Arthur G. Ibañez said the significance of addressing challenges in sustainable animal management, including climate change, biodiversity loss, and ethical animal treatment. “The insights shared here will inspire us to rethink and innovate in our respective fields,” Dr. Ibañez said, highlighting the importance of considering ethical, environmental, and economic implications for farmers and local communities.
Around 124 participants from UiTM Malaysia, 4th Regional Livestock Office, Department of Livestock Development, and Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperation in Thailand, Department of Agriculture Region 02, and CSU campuses including Carig and Sanchez Mira joined the webinar.
Esteemed resource speakers included CSU VetMed Dean Dr. Jhaysel Rumbaoa, Dr. Kathlyn Cruz, Dr. John Michael Tubil, Dr. Nur Nadiah Md Yusof, Dr. Orapun Arjkumpa, and Dr. Jojo Cauilan.
