Cagayan State University (CSU) officially launched the Cagayan Valley Regional Association of State Universities and Colleges (CaVRASUC) 2025 on March 24, bringing together six universities from Region 2 for a week-long celebration of sportsmanship and camaraderie.
Clad in their university colors, delegations from Batanes State College, Isabela State University, Nueva Vizcaya State University, Philippine Normal University-North Luzon, Quirino State University, and host Cagayan State University marched proudly during the grand parade, waving their banners high as they entered the CSU Eagles Gymnasium.
During the opening program, Arthur G. Ibanez, Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the University President at CSU, emphasized that the event is not just about competition, but also a testament to the students' lifelong skills, including discipline, time management, and collaboration.
"As we gather to celebrate the CAVRASUC Games 2025, may we all reflect on the profound significance of this occasion, emphasizing the collective supremacy we possess to overcome challenges, to uplift and empower one another and to succeed in realizing our shared goals," he stated.
GRAND WELCOME
Following the grand parade, a welcome dance by 6,500 Basic P.E. students captivated the audience, showcasing CSU’s commitment to organizing the event and highlighting its talents, efforts, and dedication.
Divina Bangayan, coach of folk dance at Nueva Vizcaya State University, praised the opening program, saying the infrastructure, the number of students, and the amenities used are "bongga" (Impressive).
"Hashtag Bongga. So, we are actually talking a while back that we cannot top this kind of welcome to us," she added.
The university presidents of the State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) also introduced their delegations for the competition, which features more than 2,400 student-athletes, socio-cultural performers, coaches, and officials, while reinforcing in their speeches the importance of regional collaboration and embodying the values of integrity, discipline, and teamwork.
FULL OF CELEBRATION
One of the highlights of the event was the Hoisting of the Banner, conducted by the RASUC President, Dr. Ricmar Aquino, and the university presidents.
This was followed by messages from key individuals and lighting of the Friendship Torch, a symbolic act by representatives from each delegation to signify the unity and respect that define the competition.
The audience also erupted in cheers during the Presentation of Mr. and Ms. CaVRASUC 2025, adding a touch of grace and school pride to the event.
Bannering the theme “Unity in Diversity, Excellence in Action,” the highly anticipated competition will run from March 24-28, with the sporting events to be held at CSU Carig, while the socio-cultural events will take place at CSU Andrews.
