SENATOR ANGARA’S SCHOLARSHIP GRANTEES JOIN CSU BARKADA LEAGUE 2025 KICKOFF

Cheers and yells filled the air at Cagayan State University (CSU) Carig Campus as 320 student-scholars from various CSU campuses gathered yesterday, May 19, for the opening of the Senator Angara’s Barkada League 2025.

In his address, CSU Officer-in-Charge President Dr. Arthur G. Ibañez extended his appreciation to Senator Angara, through Mr. Niño Nuñez, for the continued support to CSU scholars and for initiating the event. “This event is about developing friendship and camaraderie. Enjoy your games and showcase sportsmanship in everything that you do,” Dr. Ibañez said.

Delegates from different CSU campuses, along with their coaches, are set to compete in badminton, basketball, and volleyball throughout the three-day league.

Currently, a total of 563 student-scholars under Senator Angara’s scholarship program for AY 2024-2025 are enrolled across the university’s different campuses – Andrews Campus has the highest number with 120 scholars, followed by Carig Campus with 77, Aparri Campus with 71, Piat Campus with 67, Lasam Campus with 61, Sanchez Mira Campus with 60, Lal-lo Campus with 55, and Gonzaga Campus with 52.

Since 2017, Senator Angara has supported financially challenged CSU students through scholarship grants, open to all courses and year levels.

The Barkada League, which runs from May 19 to 21, serves as a platform to build friendships and promote well-being through sports among the scholars.
