asam, Cagayan — “Behind every diploma is a promise fulfilled,” declared CHED Chairperson and CSU Board of Regents Chair Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis during the 47th Academic Convocation of Cagayan State University–Lasam Campus held on July 7, 2025.
Addressing the 165 graduates, Dr. Agrupis reminded them that free education is not merely a privilege, but a solemn covenant with the nation, one that calls for accountability, service, and a commitment to give back.
The ceremony conferred degrees on graduates from the College of Industrial Technology, College of Information and Computing Sciences, and College of Teacher Education. A total of 25 academic awardees were honored, including 11 Cum Laude, 3 Academic Distinction, and 11 With Merit.
CSU OIC President Dr. Arthur G. Ibañez issued a charge to the graduates, calling on them to become champions of social justice. “Work to dismantle inequality and empower the marginalized,” he urged. “Beyond your technical training, there lies a shared responsibility to build a more inclusive society.”
In a heartfelt Address of Thanks, Christian Joseph Lui Laderas shared his personal journey. “CSU-Lasam wasn’t my dream school—but it was exactly what I needed,” he said. “Sa campus na ito, natuto akong magmahal, maglingkod, at tumingin sa puso ng bawat isa,” he added.
Meanwhile, CSU Sanchez Mira Campus is set to hold its graduation ceremonies this afternoon.
