A retirement program is never a mark of a melancholic end; rather, it is a celebration of long, meaningful years that have shaped a resounding legacy.
In a solemn gathering today, Cagayan State University paid homage to its thirty-four (34) retirees, honoring contributions that stand as the very foundations upon which the university continues to thrive.
Where Service Becomes Legacy
In a heartfelt message, Dr. Junel B. Guzman captured the essence of the moment: “…While institutions endure, the people who paved the way are unforgettable…” Nearing her own retirement, she reflected on a lifetime of service shared by colleagues who helped chart CSU’s journey through decades of transformation and growth. “You have charted new directions and built the bridges that will carry future generations,” she added.
For CSU, the contributions of Dr. Guzman and her fellow retirees are not eclipsed by the closing years of their careers. Their service remains vital to the university’s continuing direction and growth.
Throughout their tenure, they bore the responsibilities of their positions and took on many roles: visionary leaders, exemplary academicians, dedicated administrators, and even voluntary contributors in moments that called for duty beyond obligation.
A New Season of Purpose
The event also echoed a deeper message: retirement is not an ending but a new beginning. “Today does not mark an ending but a celebration… a toast to the beginning of a more personal, purpose-driven chapter,” said Dr. Lilia M. Tamayao, whose words resonated with reassurance and hope.
Former CSU President, now Senator Loren Legarda’s representative to the CSU Board, Dr. Urdujah G. Alvarado, and University Consultant and Professor Emeritus Fr. Ranhilio C. Aquino, graced the ceremony, who testified that neither retirement nor age defines one’s vigor to serve and continue to contribute in contemporary matters.
Their presence continues to embody public service, proving that retirement does not close the book; instead, it opens new avenues for meaningful engagement within CSU and beyond.
Honoring the Heart of CSU
For the university’s new retirees, their legacies, woven into every campus, office, and milestone, are not measured merely by the positions they once held but by the impact, dedication, and loyalty they have rendered through the years.
And for CSU, its gates of opportunity remain open to them, just as they have been for the many who remain devoted to service.
As CSU moves forward, it does so with deep gratitude to the thirty-four individuals whose names are now engraved in the institution’s continuing story. Their journey as employees may have ended, but their impact endures, inspiring the next generation to serve with the same loyalty and commitment.
