Held at Cagayan State University (CSU) Lallo Campus, stakeholders across governance, education, and industry sectors gathered for a summit aimed at operationalizing climate policies at the local level and accelerating sustainable development initiatives in Region II, February 24, 2026.
The Gattaran–Cagayan Sustainable Development, Climate Action, and Investment Summit serves as a strategic platform to align national mandates with grassroots realities by promoting collaboration among agencies, local governments, and the academe.
During the opening program, CSU Officer-in-Charge President Dr. Arthur G. Ibañez highlighted the need for urgent, research-driven solutions to mitigate climate risks and build resilient communities. He noted that universities play a critical role in bridging science, innovation, and community engagement.
He also expressed gratitude to the Climate Change Commission, through the Office of Commissioner Albert P. Dela Cruz Sr., for selecting CSU Lallo Campus as host, recognizing the University’s role in advancing sustainable development, climate resilience, and innovation-led investments tailored to Cagayan Valley.
The summit recognizes climate action as a pathway to inclusive growth and durable peace, particularly by supporting reintegration initiatives that provide sustainable livelihoods and reduce the risk of conflict recurrence.
