August 24, 2017, Santiago City. A total of 440, 000.00 pesos was generated by the CSU- DOST 02 Food Innovation Center during the Regional Technology Transfer Day at Zen Hotel, Santiago City, Isabela yesterday. CSU-DOST 02 FIC is the first Food innovation Center in the Philippines to award technology licensing agreements to business entities trusting the potential of the products generated by these technology to find its niche in the market. Lighthouse Cooperative, ISU Cabagan Campus, ISU Cauayan Campus, KMK, CMJ Shop and Snack, JKA Foods, LGU Sta. Ana, JND Manufacturing Industries, RLGV Food Products, LGU Echague, LGU Cauayan, L&B Dream Farm have purchased technologies to produce various food products from monggo, bamboo, sweet potato, tomato, pineapple, bugnay, coffee, etc. The CSU-DOST 02 Food innovation Center is one of the first FICs to be established in the Philippines and was initiated by Dr. Urdujah Tejada, who, during the time of its establishment was the DOST 02 Regional Director. Her support continued and strengthened when she became DOST Assistant Secretary and Program Manager for Countryside Development.
During the event, President Tejada was awarded a certificate of appreciation by DOST for her support, leadership and guidance in the excellent performance of the CSU-DOST 02 Food Innovation Center resulting to the development of emerging food products that won multiple awards in the National Search for the Most Innovative Products of DOST.
Recognized for her success in the CSU- DOST partnership food innovation program, FIC ASEAN invited President Tejada as a resource speaker in an international seminar-workshop on the Best Practices of Establishment and Operation of Food Innovation Centers among ASEAN Member States this October. The CSU-DOST 02 Food Innovation Center at CSU Carig Campus is manned by Engr. Arthur Ibanez as the Program Manager and Prof. Denis Policar as the Project Leader.
