In a significant event today, Soka University and Cagayan State University joined forces to sign a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at fostering academic and research collaboration. The occasion, which also featured a Joint Seminar with faculty members from both universities, sought to promote knowledge exchange and collaboration across various academic fields.
During the MOU signing ceremony, OIC President Arthur Ibanez reflected on a significant occasion that occurred six years ago at Soka University. This memorable event saw former President Urdujah Alvarado being honored with the prestigious Soka University Award of Highest Honor, recognizing her outstanding contributions to education, culture and world peace. Soka President Masashi Suzuki commended the former President’s dedication to noble virtues and expressed confidence in the partnership between CSU and Soka University, through its visionary Officer-in-Charge Arthur Ibanez, to activate tangible collaboration between the two universities
Following the MOU signing, a Joint Seminar took place where faculty members from both universities delivered lectures to International Graduate School students of Soka University. The topics covered during the seminar included assessments for typhoon and earthquake-resilient Ivatan houses, inspirational leadership, ethical and responsible agriculture, indigenous peoples’ rights, elevating Philippine English through social media, global education and refugee education.
The collaboration between Soka University and Cagayan State University is expected to yield positive outcomes through joint research projects, student exchange programs and academic conferences. Both institutions are dedicated to promoting mutual understanding, academic excellence and social responsibility, ensuring a promising future for their stakeholders.
