CSU HOSTS PATHESCU INC.'s 26th ANNUAL NATIONAL CONFERENCE AND TRAINING

Cagayan State University played hosts to the Philippine Association for Technology in Home Economics of State Colleges and Universities, Inc. (PATHESCU, Inc.) for the conduct of its 26th annual national conference and training, a 3-day conference and training event held at the Claude Andrews Convention Center from July 11-13, 2024.

With the theme: A CRITICAL UPDATE: PREPARING FOR HOME ECONOMICS 4.0, (The Interface of the discipline of Home Economics, Technology and Livelihood Education, and Industrial Technology), the event launched a series of activities and plenary sessions aimed at analyzing the gaps in the curriculum of Home Economics to meet the requirements for Industrial Revolution 5.0.; Understanding technology transfer routes as applied in teaching, research, and product development; Enriching competencies in research and intellectual property protection; Appreciating the role of preparing for Home Economics 4.0 in different fields, schools, homes, communities, and industries and Establishing linkages and camaraderie among Home Economists and professionals from related fields.

Participating State Universities and Colleges likewise engaged in research and poster making presentations along with a training - workshop on Intellectual Property Rights. Meanwhile selected faculty members showcased their expertise during the skills demonstration activity, specifically on the discipline of Arts and Crafts Demonstration (Beads Crafting-Ball Pen Holder), Food Demonstration (Nutri-Doughnuts), Food Product Development Demonstration (Utility Model or Patented Product), and Still Life Painting Using Oil Paint Demonstration, fostering a culture of innovation and progress in their respective niches.

The event’s fellowship night conducted on the second day highlighted key officials of the organization through an awarding ceremony, applauding their commitment and dedication in the service of technology in home economics. While Cagayan State University, Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University, Ilo-ilo Science and Technology University, University of the Philippines - Diliman Campus, Isabela State University, Cavite State University, Technological University of the Philippines, Eastern Visayas State University, University of Eastern Philippines, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, Our Lady of Perpetual Succor College Marikina, Cebu Technological University, University of Southeastern Philippines, Benguet State University, and State University of Northern Negros also received various awards hailed from different categories.

Among the Notable Awardees is CSU’s very own Dr. Eva Nebril Flores from the College of Industrial Technology, for being awarded with PATHESCU Inc’s Lifetime Achievement Award in Home Economics, the highest award conferrable to its members. This award recognizes the lifetime achievement of home economics professionals who have reached the pinnacle of their career in the discipline, the award recognized all her accolades and contributions in the field of food science nutrition, which significantly advanced academic and community endeavours.

The conference culminated with an educational/technical tour in the campus, featuring the Food Innovation Center Located in Carig Campus and Cagayan Meat Processing – Cagayan Chicharon. The City tour likewise included a visit to the Ybanag Lighthouse Cooperative, showcasing various delicacies and places CSU and Tuguegarao has to offer.
