PSA RSSO II, CSU LEAD REGIONAL TRAINING ON DATA MANAGEMENT AND STATISTICAL CAPACITY BUILDING

The Regional Statistics Committee Region II, through the Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Statistical Services Office II, in partnership with Cagayan State University, conducted the First Quarter 2026 RSC2 Statistical Capacity Building Program: Training on Data Management, Encoding, and Cleaning using MS Excel and Google Sheets, March 10–11, 2026.

The activity opened with welcome remarks from Engr. Girme M. Bayucan, RSC2 Vice-Chairperson and PSA-RSSO II Regional Director, followed by the opening message of Dr. Mariden V. Cauilan, Vice President for Academic Affairs of Cagayan State University.

The training gathered representatives from government agencies and academic institutions across Region II to enhance competencies in data management and spreadsheet-based analysis.

Resource speakers from the University Management Information System Office, Mr. Johaness Paolo B. Roy and Mr. Rowbie B. Lopez, led lectures and interactive workshops covering data management fundamentals, proper data encoding practices, data organization techniques, and essential spreadsheet functions.

Participants were also introduced to data cleaning procedures, conditional formatting, pivot tables for summarizing datasets, AI tools for spreadsheet work, and data querying methods.

Through the two-day training, participants are expected to improve their ability to convert raw information into accurate, consistent, and reliable datasets, contributing to stronger data analysis, reporting, and evidence-based governance.
