By Office of the University President | March 18, 2026 |

CAGAYAN—Around one hundred ninety-five (195) students, faculty and practitioners from various institutions participated in an immersive learning experience during the first day of the Training on Forensic Sciences, Artificial Intelligence, and Crime Scene Investigation, held at the Claude Andrews Convention Center on March 18, 2026.

The training was collaboratively organized and hosted by Cagayan State University (CSU) and the Sherlock Institute of Forensic Science, India, as an offshoot of a partnership forged in 2025. This internationalization initiative featured a co-designed training program, enabling students and faculty to gain global exposure through lectures, demonstrations, case studies, and hands-on forensic exercises.

The activity featured PBGEN Antonio P. Marallag Jr., PNP Regional Director, as keynote speaker, alongside international experts Dr. Ranjeet Singh, Director of the Sherlock Institute, and Prof. Robert Green, Professor from the University of Kent, Canterbury.

In his message, CSU OIC President Dr. Arthur G. Ibáñez emphasized that the collaboration reflects CSU’s strong commitment to global engagement.

“In working together, CSU and the Sherlock Institute of Forensic Science demonstrate that true progress in criminal justice is achieved when institutions unite, when expertise is shared, and when knowledge transcends geography,” he said.

Anchored on the theme “Advancing Criminal Justice through Responsible AI and Global Collaboration,” the two-day training gathered participants from CSU campuses in Carig, Solana, Sanchez Mira, Piat, and Gonzaga, as well as from Isabela State University, University of Cagayan Valley, International School of Asia and the Pacific, and Saint Ferdinand College.

The initiative was spearheaded by CSU-CCJE under University Dean Dr. Maita P. Guadamor and Dr. Ranjeet Singh, Director of Sherlock Institute with the support of the Office of the Vice President for Internationalization, Partnership and Resource Mobilization (OVPIPRM) led by Dr. Ana Marie Cristina C. Cauilan, and the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs under Dr. Mariden V. Cauilan.

Through this initiative, CSU continues to demonstrate how internationalization at home can provide meaningful global learning experiences, empowering criminology students and practitioners with internationally aligned competencies without leaving the country.
