STEADY VOICE, UNYIELDING SPIRIT: SHEVONNE ALEJANDRO TRIUMPHS AT THE NATIONAL STAGE

By Office of the University President | April 15, 2026 |

In a field of the country’s most compelling voices, Ma. Shevonne Nataniela Alejandro emerged as Champion in Declamation during the PASUC National Culture and Arts Festival 2026, held at West Visayas State University in Iloilo City. Her victory is not merely a testament to talent, but to discipline, composure, and an enduring commitment to craft.

Shevonne’s formative years were spent in Oman, where she was raised alongside her two younger siblings by parents working abroad. As the eldest, she developed early a sense of responsibility and quiet resilience—traits that would later define her presence on stage. Her transition to the Philippines during her Senior High School years marked a pivotal shift, one that required adaptation not only academically but culturally and artistically.

Now a first-year student at the CSU Andrews - College of Allied Health Sciences, pursuing a degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Shevonne balances the rigor of scientific training with the demands of performance. This duality—precision and expression—finds synthesis in her declamation style: measured, deliberate, and deeply felt.

From the outset, Shevonne demonstrated a determined and steady character. She approached training with openness, receptive to critique while maintaining a distinct voice of her own. Her original piece, “Flesh and Blood,” stood as a clear articulation of her artistic identity. Notably, even during her initial presentation, the piece required only minimal refinement—reflecting a high level of conceptual clarity and performance readiness from the outset. The few adjustments recommended were carried out with precision and immediacy, demonstrating her discipline and responsiveness to critique.

Her progression from the University Meet to the Regional level, and ultimately to the National stage, was marked by consistency. At each level, Shevonne remained composed, focused, and anchored in her interpretation of the piece. Even under the pressure of last-minute revisions during the final competition, she sustained control over her delivery.

On the national platform, Shevonne distinguished herself through a performance characterized by power and restraint. Her delivery did not rely on excess; instead, it drew strength from clarity, timing, and emotional precision. This balance enabled her to command both the judges’ evaluation and the audience’s attention.

Her achievement reflects not only individual excellence but also the effectiveness of disciplined preparation and intellectual engagement with the piece. In Ma. Shevonne Nataniela Alejandro, the institution presents a performer who embodies both artistic integrity and academic seriousness—an individual prepared not only for competition, but for sustained growth in her chosen fields.

Her victory stands as a benchmark for future performers: that mastery is not always loud, but it is always deliberate.

Congratulations, Shevonne! The whole CSU community is incredibly proud of you! #NCAF2026 #TatakCSU
