To advance its development plan of providing accessible, inclusive, and quality higher education, Cagayan State University (CSU) held an Executive Planning Workshop today, November 3, at Blue Coast Beach Hotel, Sta. Ana, Cagayan.
The workshop focused on key institutional initiatives aimed at expanding educational access and enhancing academic excellence, notably the proposal to establish the Calayan and Buguey Extension Sites as independent campuses and the grant of fiscal stability to CSU Solana.
OIC President Dr. Arthur G. Ibanez led the discussions, joined by CSU Board of Regents Member Dr. Urdujah G. Alvarado, University Advisers Fr. Ranhilio C. Aquino, and Dr. Florentina S. Dumlao, along with university vice presidents, campus executive officers, the university planning director, and campus planning officers.
Fr. Ranhilio C. Aquino, presented the legal considerations involved in converting Calayan and Buguey into full-fledged campuses. On the other hand, VP for Academic Affairs Dr. Mariden V. Cauilan, together with CEOs Dr. Rodel Francisco T. Alegado and Dr. Audy R. Quebral, discussed the academic considerations of the proposed conversion to ensure the continued delivery of relevant and quality instruction.
Administrative aspects were also tackled by Dr. Urdujah G. Alvarado, VP for Administration and Finance Dr. Theresa B. Dimalanta, and University Technical Adviser Dr. Florentina S. Dumlao, who emphasized the importance of efficient governance, sustainable resource management, and institutional alignment with CSU’s strategic vision for the next 10 years of operation.
Currently, the Calayan and Buguey sites operate as extensions of CSU Sanchez Mira and CSU Aparri, respectively. Their conversion into a financially stable campuses is envisioned to bring higher education opportunities closer to underserved communities, particularly in geographically isolated areas of Cagayan.
