At Cagayan State University excellence is the culture.

I can still remember when I first walked through the gigantic arc of Cagayan State University-Carig Campus and as a wide-eyed freshman, my goals felt simple. The campus revealed a road ahead stretched out into an uncertain future. But today, as I stand in the middle of the crowded CSU-Carig field as a fourth-year student, I am watching the university's ultimate purpose come to life.

The air carries the hymn of university marking its 48th year. Looking across the pavilions of Research, Development, and Extension (RDE) Innovation Showcase, the transformation feels personal. For nearly four years of staying in the institution, I have seen the evolution firsthand, witnessing the living embodiment of Ad Optimum Educans—our mantra that promises nothing less than “Educating for the best.” At 48, CSU stands fortified—unwavering in its legacy, resilient through change, and fiercely ready for the future.

Driven by Innovation

The anniversary festivities officially came to life with a grand walk from the Andrews Campus to Carig. While the energy was high all morning, what truly caught my attention was the incredible sense of unity on display. Seeing all nine campuses of the CSU system marching together, side by side under one banner, was a powerful sight. It was a massive, synchronized celebration of a single, unified university family.

Right at the united crowd, the energy peaked as the procession was proudly led by CSU’s very own, locally developed electric vehicles.

It served as a tangible reminder that in less than a decade, the institution has transitioned from a traditional academic setting into a high-tech innovation hub capable of engineering its own green transport solutions.

Academic Mastery

"At CSU, we don’t just reach for the standard; we define it."

These words from one of my professors perfectly capture the mindset driving CSU’s academic journey.

During my stay here, I have watched our peers consistently top national board examinations in medicine, engineering, respiratory therapy, and teacher education. Seeing CSU at the very peak of national rankings has completely rewritten our collective mindset. The academic foundation is now FORTY-fied, built on a string of consistent victories.

Developing Research and Beyond

CSU’s influence now benchmarks the nation, largely driven by the establishment of the country’s first DOST-funded Electromobility Research and Development Center (EMRDC) on university.

The administration has pioneered the design of energy-efficient e-Trikes and "C-Trikes" (converted electric tricycles) as sustainable, zero-emission solutions for public transport. These breakthroughs are no longer confined to the lab; the university has successfully commercialized its patented electric conversion kits and forged national partnerships to build training centers beyond the region. By leading the transition toward green electromobility, CSU proves that its research is a powerful engine for both environmental sustainability and economic growth.

As the festivities of the 48th anniversary wind down, the university finds itself at a new threshold. CSU has moved past its "comfortable avenue," stretching its reach far beyond the Cagayan province to wherever global opportunity lies.

From every topped board exam to pioneering breakthroughs, each milestone is a deliberate step in a 48-year journey to gold.

At 48, CSU isn't just following the path of excellence—it is setting the bar high for everyone.
