Cagayan State University and Huachiew Chalermprakiet University of Thailand formally strengthened academic ties through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) during the Health Professions Tomorrow: Bridging Competence and Compassion Symposium held today, June 23, 2026, at the Claude Andrews International Convention Center.

Signed by CSU Officer-in-Charge President Dr. Arthur G. Ibañez and HCU President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uraipan Janvanichyanont, the five-year MOU provides a framework for cooperation in faculty and student mobility programs, joint educational initiatives, collaborative research projects, exchange of publications and learning materials, curriculum innovation, and the development of new educational tools and programs.

Representing Huachiew Chalermprakiet University were Dr. Jonathan Rante Carreon, Vice President, and Dr. Siriwut Rungruang, Associate Dean, who served as resource speakers during the event.

Complementing the MOU signing was a series of academic lectures delivered by Dr. Carreon who discussed emerging opportunities beyond traditional healthcare careers, while Dr. Rungruang, emphasized the value of compassion, connection, and meaningful learning experiences in health sciences education.

In the afternoon session, campus executive officers, university directors and deans, and campus officials participated in a lecture on Building a World-Class Green Campus: Tips to Excel in the UI GreenMetric Rankings, which provided insights on sustainability practices and environmental stewardship in higher education institutions.

The initiative was spearheaded by the Office of the Campus Executive Officer of CSU Andrews, led by Mr. Terence Alfred Roberto Tejada, through the Domestic and International Partnership Office headed by Mr. Edmer Sibbaluca, in collaboration with the College of Allied Health Sciences under the leadership of Dr. Julius Capili.
