A shared vision of responsible digital transformation brought together government, academia, and industry as Cagayan State University, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region II, and Google Southeast Asia launched the Regional AI Training for Academic and Public Sector Professionals on July 23, 2026.
Hosted by Cagayan State University, the two-day AI Training Roadshow 2026 highlights the growing collaboration among higher education institutions, government agencies, and global technology partners in preparing educators and public servants for an AI-driven future.
The training features the AImazing Public Sector Gemini Workshop and AI for Academic Leadership, Teaching, and Research, enabling participants to explore how artificial intelligence can improve instruction, research, governance, productivity, and institutional leadership.
Welcoming the participants, CSU Officer-in-Charge President Dr. Arthur G. Ibañez reminded attendees that technological progress must always be accompanied by responsibility.
"Technology without ethics is incomplete. Innovation without accountability is unsustainable. Progress without inclusion leaves communities behind. This is precisely why this training matters," he said.
Meanwhile, DICT Undersecretary for Special Concerns and Chief of Staff Atty. Christina Faye M. Condez-De Sagon likewise highlighted the government's commitment to expanding digital access through nationwide connectivity across the country, including State Universities and Colleges (SUCs).
"Hindi natin iiwan ang Cagayan, hindi natin iiwan ang Region II. Walang iwanan sa digital bayanihan," she said, adding that Cagayan State University and all SUCs nationwide will benefit from expanded internet connectivity initiatives.
The event was also graced by Assistant Secretary for Infostructure Management and DICT Region II Regional Director Engr. Pinky T. Jimenez, Google Cloud Public Sector Lead Bobby Khan, Director of the Office of the Chief of Staff Atty. Darlene Mae Beloso, along with regional and assistant regional directors from partner national government agencies including the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Department of Tourism (DOT), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and the Civil Service Commission.
