CSU GEARS UP FOR TRANSFORMATION, INNOVATION, IMPROVEMENT AND ENHANCEMENT OF ACCREDITING STANDARDS AND ACCREDITORS IN A 2-DAY ORIENTATION AND TRAINING SEMINAR

Cagayan State University, in a robust and strategic move, and in partnership with the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, conducts a 2-day orientation and training seminar which started today April 18, 2024 at the CLAUDE Andrews convention center, focusing on Orientation for AACCUP Institutional Accreditation (IA) and Training on Outcomes-Based Quality Assurance (OBQA) for new accreditors.

In his welcoming message, Dr. Ibañez laid the essence and foundation of the seminar, “This event is of utmost importance not only to CSU but to the entire education system in our country. Our purpose is to make everyone a quality assurance champion, empowering faculty and staff and to make Quality Assurance the heart of the delivery of tasks”. The OIC is positive that at the end of the training, participants will be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively assess the quality of education in our institution, in preparation for the higher level accreditation. Moreover, Dr. Ibañez expressed his goal of having all faculty employees with academic rank of Assistant Professor I and up to be accreditors of the University.

AACCUP executive director, Dr. Milabel E. Ho, along with her team, Senior accreditors Dr. maria Glenda O. De Lara, Dr. Erwin Lacanlale, Ma’am Merlyn Dela Cruz and Sir Dominic Martinez directed the areas of discussion of the seminar. The 200 participants of the training were chosen faculty and administration members across the campuses, specifically; participants for OBQA, Andrews-36, Aparri-10, Carig-44, Gonzaga-7, lal-lo-7, lasam-4, Sanchez Mira-10, Solana-3, and, Piat-5, Totalling to 125 ,while for IA, Andrews-16, Aparri-14, Carig-20, Gonzaga-6, lal-lo-8, Lasam-5, Piat-9, Sanchez Mira-5, Solana-4, and Central Admin-12 Totalling to 75. The participants were approved by OIC-President, Dr. Arthur Ibañez with the aim of increasing the number of accreditors present in the university, and equipping the current accreditors with the necessary skills, tools and knowledge in order for them to become senior accreditors.

The university’s investment in OBQA training is geared for the long-term success and competitiveness of the institution, strengthening CSU’s dedication to excellence and innovation in education, and taking advantage of a good opportunity that aims to enhance the university’s accreditation processes through the AACCUP experts headed by none other than the executive director Dr. Ho.

The Opening program was attended by the University’s Key Executives, Vice-Presidents, Campus Executive Officers, Academic Deans, and Various Faculty members and staff from across the Campuses.
