The Committee on Higher Education approved Congressman Joseph “Jojo” Lasam Lara’s House Bill No. 8124 that aims to make Cagayan State University Iraga Extension in Barangay Iraga in the municipality of Solana, Cagayan a regular campus.
CSU Iraga, Solana Extension was created upon the request of parents and students in the municipality of Solana and West Amulung for a more accessible higher learning institution.
Currently, it is considered as an extension campus at the care of CSU and shall be called the Solana Campus once the bill is enacted. It is expected that not only students will be benefitted by this project, but also the nearby municipalities of Amulung West, Piat, and Alcala.
The programs that will be offered in Iraga Extension include Teacher Education, Agriculture, Fisheries, Information and Computer Sciences, and Criminology. 135 students are presently enrolled for the first semester of Academic Year 2020-2021.
It is also expected that there will be an increase in the number of program offerings, infrastructure, and employees once the bill proposed by Cong. Lara is turned into a law.
Cagayan State University’s President Urdujah G. Alvarado thanks Congressman Lara, not only for his initiative but also for his land donation where the Iraga Extension is built on.
