Cagayan State University celebrated another significant milestone as another facility will be constructed at Cagayan State University-Andrews Campus. A Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Construction of a New Four-Storey Student Dormitory on the university grounds was held on October 16, 2023 and was attended by Cagayan 3rd District government officials, university and campus officials, faculty members, and students leaders.
The new edifice is sponsored by CSU’s ever-supportive benefactor Congressman “Jojo” Lasam Lara who has always been the university’s foremost partner in assuring that CSUans have instrumental facilities to make its mission to deliver quality education possible. This commitment is exhibited in Congressman Lara’s active lobbying of the newly established campus, CSU Solana Campus. This is made possible by his generosity when he provided CSU the Deed of Donation for the 20,000 square meters of land area where the campus stands today. Moreover, the zeal he has shown to make it into a reality was further attested as the primary proponent of the establishment of CSU Solana as an official campus to the congress and senate, and finally inking the Republic Act 11858 - converting CSU Solana as the ninth regular campus of the university. In CSU-Carig, Congressman Lara also has two projects that are currently in progress which include a 4-Storey Dormitory Building and the highly anticipated CSU Grandstand. Another one of Congressman Lara’s promises will become a reality, this time for CSU-Andrews Campus, as another dormitory shall soon rise in this very ground.
On behalf of the CSU community, University President Urdujah G. Alvarado thanked Congressman Lara for all the provisions he has provided to the CSUans. “Your generosity and legacy here in CSU will definitely stand the test of time and will be beneficial not only for the current generation but also to the next. Again, our sincerest gratitude to you and your team!” she said.
In his keynote speech, Congressman Lara expressed his appreciation for the fruitful partnership with CSU under President Alvarado. “I am very thankful na magkasama tayo sa pag-papaunlad hindi lang sa Cagayan State University, kung hindi sa buong probinsya ng Cagayan,” he added. The 3rd District Representative advocated for responsible infrastructure by bringing convenience to the students of CSU through the 85-million infrastructure project.
