Cagayan State University commemorates another significant milestone as it celebrated its 46th Founding Anniversary, which commenced yesterday, June 11, 2024, and is slated to continue until June 14. The festivities began with a spectaculer traditional grand welcome dance by hundreds of students at CSU Carig’s Palm Avenue. The street was adorned with a stunning array of hanging umbrella canopies in a myriad of colors that created a vibrant and festive atmosphere.
The opening program of the anniversary celebrations brought together former administrators, including esteemed former Presidents and Vice Presidents of the university, in a gathering that drew thousands of employees and students. A highlight of the program was the screening of “CSU in Retrospect,” a poignant video documentary that delved into the rich history of CSU through the notable contributions of past presidents, whose visionary leadership has been instrumental in shaping the institution into the distinct entity it is today. The former officials were honored with awards on stage amidst the nostalgic strains of the old “CSU March,” evoking a sense of nostalgia as they reunited with the university after many years. Distinguished personalities such as former Presidents Dr. Urdujah Alvarado, Dr. and Mrs. Armando Cortes, and Dr. Gerry Perez were in attendance, adding to the significance of the occasion.
Furthermore, comprehensive reports detailing the achievements from 2023 to 2026 across the university’s nine campuses were presented through engaging video presentations, showcasing the remarkable growth and progress of CSU over the years. OIC Arthur Ibanez delivered the State of the University address and emphasized the noteworthy accomplishments of CSU under his stewardship. The OIC attributed much of the university’s success to the dedicated efforts of former presidents and university officials who have tirelessly worked towards achieving the institution’s goals and mandates. OIC Ibanez expressed his commitment to further elevate CSU to greater heights during his tenure.
The opening program culminated with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting for “Sarabo,” a captivating trade exhibit that featured a diverse array of niche products from the CSU campuses. The innovative booths and showcased products exemplified the creativity, diversity and ingenuity of the campuses. The anniversary celebration not only served as a moment to reflect on the history and achievements of Cagayan State University but also as an opportunity to celebrate the unity and collective triumphs of the institution.
