Following the recent culmination of the international leadership last August 2024, CSU kicks-off second wave of International Training on Leadership and Futures Thinking Towards Achieving Sustainable Development Goals 2024 on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at CSU Sanchez Mira Campus.
The 2024 International Training on Leadership and Futures Thinking Towards Achieving Sustainable Development Goals is a critical initiative that confronts and addresses global challenges of sustainable development. Attended by Cagayan State University, Universitas Wamadewa (UnWar), Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara and Universiti Teknologi Mara, the event was set on a 2-day leadership program aimed at cultivating a dynamic exchange of ideas, skills and cultural perspectives necessary for the empowerment of next generation leaders.
In the opening ceremony, OIC President, Dr. Arthur G. Ibañez, ASEAN Engr., Represented by Dr. Ana Marie Cristina Cauilan, Vice President for Internationalization, Partnerships and Research Mobilization Expressed his warm welcome to the international delegates, “The world is our classroom, and there is so much to learn from one another. Let us forge lasting partnerships that transcend borders. Together, we can create a vibrant network of educators and scholars dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge and the betterment of society. let us be bold, let us be innovative and let us be united in our quest for a sustainable and equitable future.” Moreover, Dr. Ibañez extended his appreciation to CEO Rodel Alegado for exemplifying CSU’s hospitality and camaraderie most especially while in the midst of a typhoon. He likewise recognized the efforts of Dr. Giged Battung, Prof. Kristine Lara, the Internationalization, Partnership and Resource Mobilization Office and youth futures team for their invaluable efforts in the event’s endeavor.
Rooted on the IPRM’s purpose, the training is geared towards fostering leadership skills and futures thinking among students and faculty, thereby nurturing a generation that is not only aware of the Sustainable Development Goals but is also prepared to implement innovative solutions that promote sustainability, equity and social justice. It also aims to create a vibrant learning environment where participants can explore new paradigms and develop actionable strategies that align with the SDGs by focusing on critical thinking, strategic foresight and collaborative problem-solving.
The leadership training includes hands-on activities for students and comprehensive lectures for faculty, designed to bridge the gap between theory and practice, meanwhile, the interactive activities, workshops and scholarly discussions are tailored to enrich the participant’s learning experiences and foster a sense of global citizenship. Ultimately, participants are projected to gain invaluable insights into diverse perspectives and practices, and collaborate on innovative approaches to education and community engagement.
