Cagayan State University (CSU) Carig welcomed yesterday, September 25, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary, Dr. Renato U. Solidum Jr., along with other key officials, Undersecretaries Sancho A. Mabborang, and Dr. Leah Buendia, for the inauguration and turnover of the Electromobility Research and Development Center (MIRDC-MEIC) facilities, signing of the E-Trike Technology Agreement, and the Technology Licensing Agreement with various partner agencies.

Developed in collaboration with DOST – Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST – PCIEERD), the MIRDC – MEIC facilities have various equipment and technologies to support electromobility research in the region and beyond.

Meanwhile, the MOA signing focused on the fabrication, assembly, and distribution of the DOST-NICER technologies on electric tricycles is a tripartite partnership of CSU led by OIC President Arthur G. Ibańez, Central Isabela Agri Manufacturing Corporation (CIAMC) led by President Eugine T. Gabriel, and the CHRGC Electric Vehicle Technologies Inc. led by President Leo Allen S. Tayo.

Under the agreement, CSU will provide CIAMC with essential technical documentation, including technical drawings, CAD renders, and comprehensive manuals for vehicle fabrication. CSU will also train CIAMC personnel on the production of the eTrike prototypes.

CIAMC, on the other hand, commits to providing trained personnel, securing necessary accreditations from government entities, and adhering to the agreed standards for electric vehicle production. CIAMC will also handle the compliance of the DTI-prescribed standards for electric vehicles.

On the part of CHRG, the company will contribute by providing technical training on the electrical systems of the eTrikes and supplying the necessary electronic kits and charging technologies, ensuring that the eTrikes are equipped with state-of-the-art technology for optimal performance.

This event was part of the Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW), an annual celebration of DOST highlighting their commitment to innovation and development in the region.
