e, at CSU Gonzaga, have exerted efforts to implement need-based, relevant, and innovative research programs
and deliver economically, socially, and environmentally relevant extension programs. All of these efforts are
Wdirected towards our ultimate goal of building stable, sustainable and resilient communities. At first, it was an
ambitious dream. But we are ambitious enough that we bravely surpassed the challenges that came our way. Just like the
pliant bamboo, we survived the storm and kept standing strong.
This book encapsulates the fruit of our labor in research, development and extension through the years. It is a manifestation
of our unending dedication to serve the community through our research, development and extension programs. The
CESTEEPH, Nipa and Bamboo Programs were all designed to improve the lives of CSU stakeholders by empowering them
and establishing safe and productive environment through the need-based livelihood projects and other activities. These
programs promote awareness on environmental protection and conservation which mold them to become resilient members
of the community.
These accomplishments are not ours alone. We share these with our partners from the different government and private
agencies who contributed financial and technical support for the successful implementation of our projects.
May this book inspire us to continue our advocacy in protecting the environment and improving the communities we serve.
