REGIONAL DIRECTOR, DOST-R02

ongratulations to the hardworking and dedicated people of Cagayan State University – Gonzaga Campus! I commend everyone
for their significant efforts in fostering our joint project, Community Enhancement through Science and Technology, Education,
CEnvironment Protection and Health (CESTEEPH).
This project aims to undertake social mobilization activities in line with existing values, skills, capabilities, talents, and resources in the
community. Its goal is to also create opportunities for wealth generation through appropriate technological interventions.
With that, let me just run through some of the projects of CSU-Gonzaga with the assistance of DOST-R02. Since our project started, we have
already turned over about 75 multipurpose solar dryers from DOST-R02. These benefited fisher folks and farmers as it allowed them to have
a cleaner and more hygienic dried products.
Also, DOST-R02 aimed to enrich the minds of students, particularly in the aspect of Science and Technology. That is why we have installed
seven units of STARBOOKS in Gonzaga, Cagayan; two units each in Santa Teresita and Buguey, Cagayan; and one unit for Santa Ana,
Cagayan.
We have also conducted trainings on good manufacturing practices, food safety, enterprise development, environment protection, tree
planting activities, and flood mitigation.

I believe that we have come a long way with this project due to the visibility of our hardwork and partnership. As we further aim in uplifting
the quality of people’s lives, we should always acknowledge the contributions coming from our linkages and their support.

As CSU-Gonzaga continues to embark on collaborative efforts in its services, we should challenge ourselves to produce not just accomplishments,
but products of the mind; products that will distinctly identify us as Cagayanos, and as competent developers and innovators of revolution.
It will take efforts to be able to further strengthen our foothold in science, technology, and innovation in Region 02. With that, I encourage
everyone to continuously build up our trust and partnership with one another. Together, let us strive for the continuous S&T growth and
development in this region.
