                                                                      OIC-REGIONAL EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, DENR-RO2

y warmest congratulations to the Cagayan State University–Gonzaga Campus under the tutelage of President Urdujah
Alvarado and CEO Froilan Pacris Jr. for coming up with this book showcasing the university’s accomplishments in terms
Mof its Research, Development and Extension (RDE) projects.

Engaging research experts in our programs is a strong point in ensuring the success of environment and natural resources
management, conservation and development as findings of research are translated into policy formulation and environmental
                action plan.

I would like to commend your institution for putting environment and climate change as one of your priority agenda in RDE.
We appreciate your continued efforts in taking the lead in three DENR-CSU development projects, namely; Nipa Plantation for
Bioethanol Production; Bamboo Stock Production of Planting Materials; and Forestry Investment Portfolio Approach (FIPA). Your
significant contributions in these development projects are clear manifestation of your unquestionable commitment in achieving
development that is sustainable and long-lasting.

As a competitive center of excellence in RDE projects, I am confident that our partnership in enhancing environmental stability
and sustainability will go a long way as we are also helping people’s organizations elevate their socio-economic condition. Your
assistance as our active partner makes environmental programs and projects more impactful to the communities in this part of the
                country.

With these, I look forward to eyeing your esteemed university to become potential industry for bioethanol and bamboo products,
and model for sustainable reforestation research projects.

May I, therefore, encourage the officialdom and students of CSU Gonzaga to continue supporting the conservation and development
programs of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) under the leadership of Secretary Roy A. Cimatu.
Again, congratulations and I wish you success in all your endeavors!

                                                                                                                                                       iv
