CHEd Director graces CSU Syllabi-Writeshop

Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) Region II Director Julieta Paras graced the syllabi-writeshop held at CSU Andrews Conference Room, July 4.

The writeshop on the proposed additional English subjects to be offered starting school year 2019-2020, was spearheaded by the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mariden Ventura Cauilan.

Paras lauded the efforts of the office of the VPAA in conducting the syllabi-writeshop as she noted the alarming decline of Filipino students in English Proficiency.

Citing the studies conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Paras disclosed that Filipino students have low English functional skills, comprehension, multi-tasking, workshops, innovation, planning and organizing, creative thinking and business communication.

Paras encouraged the participants in the syllabi-workshop to incorporate learning activities to address the declining proficiency of Filipino students in English.

Participants in the writeshop included Dr. Chelito Malamug, Dr. Conchita Temporal, Dr. Gemma Pascual, Dr. Shella De la Cruz, Dr. Allan De la Cruz, Dr. Marie Claudette Calanoga, Dr. Rodel Alegado, Dr. Rowena Sto. Tomas, Dr. Ria Tamayo and Prof. Loraine Abuyuan.
