NEWLY-ELECTED CSU-FFA OFFICERS GET SWORN INTO OFFICE

President Urdujah Alvarado presented the university’s accomplishments from 2016-2022 today during the Strategic Planning 2023 in Baguio City. In attendance were the Vice Presidents, Campus Executive Officers, University and Campus Planning officers and other university and campus officials. The President’s report is an important springboard in the crafting of the Strategic Plan 2023 and onwards.

In her presentation, she mentioned that all accomplishments have been rooted from a development framework that served as her guide in the preparation of a medium term development and investment plan and strategic plan. These documents have been crafted while keeping in mind the recommendations of the External Performance Management Review Board that she engaged as she assumed office in 2016.

The university’s performance is responsive to the Strategic Plan, SUC Levelling, Performance Based Bonus, ASEAN University Network and other Performance indicators aligned to the VMGO of the university.

Among the highlights of accomplishments for academic affairs mentioned by the President is the increase in the total number of academic programs since 2016. “In school year 2016 to 2017, we had 63 program offerings and in response to the need of the region, we now have 74 programs offered by the nine campuses,” she said.

Enrolment trend in the university is noteworthy as she presented an increase of enrolment in 2022 with a total of 35, 973 for the First Semester. She emphasized that the decline of enrolment for the School Year 2017-2021 was caused by the transition of education to K-12 program and later on the pandemic. The strong support of administration to its faculty members brought an increase in the number of Master’s and Doctorate degree holders. Apart from supporting the faculty, the university has further brought itself more accolades as it earned commendation from accrediting bodies in terms of the number of accredited program for both graduate and undergraduate studies.

For Research, development and extension, the University was able to generate a total of 159 million pesos from partner agencies to support the implementation of research programs. Research and development have become more lively during these years as 121 researches were granted utility models, 64 UMs have been registered, 82 research outputs utilized by different clients of the university, 407 research outputs published and 433 citations.

International partnership for the university has become more vibrant as it tied up with universities in ASEAN countries, particularly Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan and Vietnam and in North America, particularly US and Canada through visiting executives and student scholarship.

For Finance, the President started her administration in 2016 with a 482 Million budget appropriation but with the numerous programs and projects, the budget has increased to 1.1 Billion pesos. The increase is attributed to the strategic budget negotiation with DBM, Congress and Senate. In her administration, the Budget Utilization Rate is 93.46% but the President said she is bent on targeting a 100% BUR.

The President also revealed on the infrastructure projects and most have been completed during her administration. At present, infrastructure projects are on-going in all campuses. She also commended the CSU community through the strong support of the Executive Committee and Management Committee for the national and international accolades received during her time, the 3 -star rating by Quacquarelli Symonds, the Asian University Network Quality Assurance (AUN QA) and International Organizationfor Standardization and AACCUP certifications.

Later today, Dr. Florentina Dumlao, Technical Adviser presented the revised SPMS Manual Revision 01 Implementing Guidelines which will later on be presented to the University Academic Council and eventually the Board of Regents for approval.

The Vice Presidents also presented and cascaded their 2023 University Targets for Academics, Research Development and Extension, Administration and Finance and Partnership and Resource Mobilization. As an output of this activity, the campus planning officers are expected to craft and present their OPCRs on the second day of the event.
